DANBURY, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Danbury and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Local business owner and third-generation Danbury resident Emile G. Buzaid Jr, 70, is running for re-election to the City Council-at-Large as a Republican. His son, Emile and daughter, Felipe, are both graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point and veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has been married to Theresa for 47 years.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?
Yes. Six terms on the Danbury City council. Four terms in the late nineties-early 2000s, and two terms 2019-2023.
Why are you seeking this office?
I wish to contribute my knowledge and experience for the good of the City

Taxation. I intend to help keep the City moving forward while maintaining fiscal efficiency.

My knowledge and experience in business.

Quality of life and public safety.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Many successes in business and participation over the years in City Govt, e.g., Creation and building the expansion of City Hall, and support of the Career Academy.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
"Faith is knowing there is an ocean when you can only see a stream"
