Patch Candidate Profile: Michael J. Flanagan, Danbury City Treasurer

DANBURY, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Danbury and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Danbury Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as Election Day draws near.

Michael J. Flanagan, 71, is running for Danbury treasurer as a Democrat. He is a graduate of Danbury High School and St. Peter School in Danbury.

Why are you seeking this office?

Danbury needs a change of direction. I want to help that happen.

It’s time for new ideas.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

In my situation it’s management of city finances.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

During my working years I managed municipal departments including their budgets.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Be honest in your dealings.

Born and raised in Danbury. And I love this City.
