Rep. Patrick Callahan, a New Fairfield resident, is running for re-election as State Representative, 108th District.

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — The 2022 election is heating up in Connecticut and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office. Eyes are primarily focused on the gubernatorial election, but every state representative and senate seat is up for grabs. All five of Connecticut's congressional seats, plus one U.S. Senate seat, are up for grabs as well.
There are 151 seats in the state House of Representatives and 36 in the state Senate. Democrats currently hold majorities in both chambers.

Previous public office, appointive or elective: Chairman of the Candlewood Lake Authority (10 years), New Fairfield Ethics Commission, New Fairfield Planning Commission (present)

Why are you seeking this office?
I am seeking reelection to continue the work I've done working towards a more affordable CT, protecting Candlewood Lake, and to make sure our local governments retain control over zoning and our schools
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The most important issues by far is affordablility and public safety. I will continue higher and additional taxes, and work towards lowering energy costs by addressing regulations that continue to cause CT to have some of the highest electricity rates in the Nation.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have not seen any of my opponents positions.What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I will continue to push for regulation on adults seeking to groom minors for sexual exploitation. I look forward to working with the Judiciary Comm. to hold criminals accountable, and to assure victims rights are never overlooked.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
As I mentioned, I have chaired boards like the CLA and was supervisory Probation Chief for over 20 years.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Never promise more than you can deliver.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I have developed great relationships on both sides of the aisle. While I often disagree with my Democrat colleagues, I can have a respectful dialogue to work through issue that need to be addressed for our constituents.
