Patch Candidate Profile: Warren Levy, Danbury City Council

DANBURY, CT — The 2023 municipal election is heating up in Danbury and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Danbury Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as Election Day draws near.

Business owner Warren Levy, 83, is running for re-election to the Danbury City Council-at-Large as a Republican. He has two children, both graduated from Danbury school system.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

I have no family members in politics. My daughter is a school nurse in Danbury and one of my grand children teaches in Danbury schools.

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

I have served on the City Council for over 20 years.

Why are you seeking this office?

It's my way of giving back to community that has been so good to me and my family.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The cost of living is currently the most pressing issue facing my constituents. I will be a watch dog to make sure our local government runs as efficiently as possible in the delivery of services.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have the experience to get things accomplished in both the private sector and the public sector.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Making sure our city maintains orderly, safe growth.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been voted by my peers to a leadership positions on the Council many times. I currently am the Majority leader.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Listen to people and learn.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

These are very difficult times for all of us. Coming off a pandemic, Danbury has done very well. Let's kept Danbury moving in the right direction. Re-Elect the whole Esposito team.
