New York state police and other law enforcement and emergency personnel are continuing to search Titicus Reservoir in North Salem Friday for a plane that is believed to have gone missing on approach to Danbury Airport late Thursday afternoon.

The airport is about 20 minutes away from the reservoir, where debris from the plane has been discovered. Divers from the New York state police and the state Department of Environmental Protection are in the midst of searching the reservoir.

“Danbury Airport reported that a 1971 Beech lost contact with the airport at approximately 4:30 p.m. as it approached their runway,” said New York state police in a statement. “The aircraft reportedly lost radar contact with the airport, placing the Beech just south of the Titicus Reservoir.”
