Police Break Up 'Street Takeover' In Danbury, Officials Say
Both state and local law enforcement responded to what Danbury police described as a "street takeover" on Miry Brook and Sugar Hollow Roads
DANBURY, CT — Both state and local police responded to what Danbury police described as a "street takeover" on Sunday morning in the area of Miry Brook Road and Sugar Hollow Road.
A large number of vehicles were blocking intersections and numerous cars were driving recklessly, police described the situation on social media. Connecticut State Police, New York State Police and Ridgefield Police also responded to assist the DPD.
Upon arrival, all vehicles left the scene, according to police.

The incident is still under investigation.
"These types of gatherings are disruptive and dangerous to motorists, pedestrians, as well as those who participate," police said. "The Danbury Police Department will work with our partners and take the necessary measures to prevent these types of activities on our streets."

Police advise residents who get caught up in a “street takeover” to not get out of their car or try to stop them.
"If possible park in a safe area, lock your doors, and call or text 911. If you learn in advance that one of these may be happening in Danbury or any other area, the FBI has set up a statewide tip line and people are urged to call 1-800-CALL-FBI. You can also call Danbury Police at 203-797-4611."
