Police Charge Danbury Man with Hit-and-Run, Pot Possession
Police caught up with the man after he fled a crash on South Street
DANBURY, CT — Police apprehended a man as he was trying to flee the scene of a crash early Sunday morning, the News-Times is reporting.
Shamel Byrd, 32, of Danbury, crashed into a car on South Street, and kept driving. A police officer witnessed the crash and stopper Byrd soon after on Town Hill Avenue, according to the report. No one was injured in the crash.
In addition to license, insurance and registration infractions, Police charged Byrd with distribution of controlled substances 1,500 feet from a school, possession of controlled substances or greater than half-ounce of marijuana, and being a non- student with drugs near a school. Bond was set at $15,000.
