DANBURY, CT — Police in Ridgefield have identified the man who died in a two-car collision Saturday as a Danbury resident.

Around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, Nicholas Vega, 25, was driving his car northbound on Danbury Road (Route 7) near the Route 35 intersection in Ridgefield when he crossed over into the southbound lane, according to Ridgefield Police Captain Shawn Platt.

Vega's car struck another vehicle, driven by Edward Makowski, 71, of Stamford, traveling in the southbound lane. Both men, and Stamford resident Stefanie Ruiz, 21, a passenger in Vega’s car, were taken to Danbury Hospital. Vega was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
