Police Identify Danbury Town Home Homicide Victim

Police found a pistol at the scene of the shooting, which they hope will provide clues to the identity of the assailant.

DANBURY, CT — Police have identified a Brewster, NY, man as the person shot dead Wednesday at a Danbury townhouse community.

Jason James Lowry Hoffman, 33, has been identified as the victim of Wednesday’s early morning homicide on Hancock Drive in The Maples section of the Sterling Woods condominium complex.

"We really do not know what led up (to the homicide)," Detective Lt. Mark Williams said Thursday. "But we know that he was visiting a friend at that location."

Police found a pistol at the scene of the shooting, according to Williams, which might provide more clues.

Hoffman's body was discovered by emergency personnel shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday, and underwent an autopsy by the state Medical Examiner's Office Thursday morning.
