Power Restored After Downed Power Line Shut Down Traffic Lights

The outage affected traffic lights near WCSU, Garamella Boulevard, Osborne Street, Maple Avenue and White Street.

DANBURY, CT — Power was restored about noon on Thursday after a few hundred residents and some downtown traffic signals spent the late morning in the dark.

Traffic lights near Western Connecticut State University, Garamella Boulevard, Osborne Street, Maple Avenue and White Street went out, along with the power to more than 200 Eversource customers in Danbury shortly before 11 a.m. The traffic delays getting around the area were significant, while police were out in force directing traffic the old-fashioned way.

Officials reported that a downed power line on White Street was the culprit, but there is no word on what caused the power line to drop.
