"Stars Out for Richter" Community Cabaret Closes Out Musicals at Richter's 37th Season: Friday, Aug. 13 Slated For Evening Under the Stars

Danbury, CT - Musicals at Richter (MAR), celebrating its 37th season as the longest-running outdoor theater in Connecticut, will conclude its summer offerings with “Stars Out for Richter: A Community Cabaret of Talent.” The one-night performance will take place live outdoors under the stars on Friday, August 13 at 8 PM (rain date Saturday, August 14) on the grounds of the Richter House Arts Center (next to the Richter Park Golf Course), 100 Aunt Hack Road, in Danbury.
The community cabaret will close MAR’s modified season with an engaging evening of in-person musical performances to celebrate the organization’s return to live theater and to raise money to complete repairs and renovations to the stage for next year.
Speaking about the cabaret, Acting MAR Artistic Director Joyce Northrop of Danbury said: “After 16 months without live performances, everyone needs the welcome boost that live theater provides. We’re over the moon to open the Richter House lawn to audiences so they can once again enjoy that long-awaited magic under the stars. Following the excitement of ‘Godspell,’ we thought a special community cabaret evening was the perfect way to close out the season!”

“We look forward to welcoming new faces to our stage while also enjoying performances by a number of Richter veterans,” explained MAR President and cabaret co-chair Caitlin Mandracchia of Sherman. “It’s been great to see all the enthusiasm that performers and audience members have for getting back to live music and theater!”
Cabaret co-chair Denise Fontenelli of Danbury echoes Mandracchia’s sentiments: “We were delighted to receive so many wonderful submissions from local performers. Our goal is to make this a relaxed and fun evening where people can picnic, enjoy the entertainment, and take chances on some raffle prizes while they help Musicals at Richter prepare for the next 37 years under the stars!”

Prior to the “Stars Out for Richter” cabaret, the run of Stephen Schwartz’s iconic and ebullient Broadway musical “Godspell” continues through August 7. The critically-acclaimed production is directed and choreographed by MAR co-founder Bradford Blake of Danbury, with music direction by Peter Randazzo of Trumbull.
“All of us at Musicals at Richter have been overwhelmed by the generous support of the community in the wake of the storm damage and the incredibly positive response to our season this year,” said MAR Executive Director Robert Bria of Redding. “With your continued help, we can’t wait to complete the repairs and renovations to our facility so we can come back even stronger in 2022! ”
