Hope is about more than a ribbon or a hug or a pat on the back. Hope is what keeps us fighting, no matter the battle; it keeps us moving towards that faint light at the end of the darkened tunnel. With such chaos in the world, such hate, such fear; hope is often times the only leg we have to stand on. Thankfully, Hope can sustain us no matter the load. For some, this is family, a close knit tribe that will drop everything for you. For others, the kindness of strangers and programs like the ones Relay For Life helps the American Cancer Society produce.Still some rely on friends that care about them beyond measure. Others, like 4 of our Relay For Life of New Fairfield Teams, rely on God and his Community for Hope.
Somewhere, hope is alive in you and this Saturday, June 1st , at 3 pm we will be starting our 12th annual event with a moving Opening Ceremony. Samantha Smith will be leading us in the National Anthem, We will hear from Event Leaders and Committee members and we have 2 exceptional guest speakers. One is Pat Riccardi who will be giving us a look into her cancer (Renal Cell Carcinoma) and her long journey. Then, the Knights of Columbus 12968, Assembly 99 will be leading our Survivor and Caregiver Laps in full Regalia.

Come Join us for a great time with bands including the High school Jazz Band, master songs, Hair cutting for wigs, the dunk tank, a bouncy house, a game area and so much more! Teams will be there fundraising so make sure you walk around! You can enjoy treats including cotton candy and snow cones, there will be tons of raffles, hats, jewelry and more! Have a hankering for some “real” food? Head up the bleachers and you’ll find our snack shack and the Lions Club of New Fairfield grilling up some Hot Dogs and Hamburgers!
Walk a few laps with us. Remember a loved one. Celebrate the life and love you have. Bring your family and friends and make memories with us! Stay for our Luminaria ceremony and feel the power of remembrance as we take a silent, glowing lap to the dulcet tones of Peter Orloff and his bagpipes. Watch our Slideshow, lovingly filled with survivors as the Chamber singers bring tears to our eyes. At 11 pm we close to the public but our participants remain. We walk through the night until dawn, fighting, the reason we signed up and raised funds. Cancer does not sleep and neither does Relay For Life of New Fairfield! We are one of the few events in the area that walk all night, and we are PROUD to continue this tradition year after year. It is not easy, but neither is fighting for your life. We walk all night to prove cancer stands NO CHANCE! One small voice may make a peep, but a hundred voices? WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
