UPDATE: Teen Shot At Danbury Mall In Stable Condition

Police are looking for a dark-skinned male suspect, possibly in his early teens, thin build, with shoulder-length dreadlocks.

DANBURY, CT — The 15-year-old who was shot inside the Danbury Fair Mall on Wednesday has been transferred to Connecticut Children's Hospital where she is in stable condition, according to police.

The shooter is still at large. Police are looking for a dark-skinned male, possibly in his early teens, with a thin build and shoulder-length dreadlocks.

Danbury Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour said the shooting was an isolated incident between two groups of people who "were involved in some sort of altercation" outside Macy's. Ridenhour said it is unclear whether the girl was the shooter's intended target.

One member of a group of at least eight people fired at a member of the other group. Police say the girl was part of the other group. The victim had previously been reported as 16-years-old, and as an innocent bystander.

There is no threat to public safety, according to police officials. Ridenhour said police are very confident the suspected shooter will soon be identified, and are urging him to turn himself in as soon as possible.
