Study Will Explore Faster Commute Between Danbury and NYC
Can the old Maybrook commuter rail line be brought back up to speed and shave an hour off the Danbury-NYC commute?
DANBURY, CT — How'd you like to shave an hour off your commute to Manhattan?
It might just be possible, and now the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council is throwing $1 million into a feasibility study that is the first step in fleshing out your fantasy. The agency voted unanimously on Thursday to fund the study, according to Mayor Mark Boughton on Twitter.
The mechanics involves reopening the 14 miles of the old Maybrook commuter rail line between Danbury and the Metro-North Harlem Line station in Southeast, N.Y.
