Sunday's St. Patrick's Day Parade in Danbury is Canceled

Due to the snow forecasted for our area, Danbury's parade planners have canceled Sunday's St. Patrick's Day parade.

DANBURY, CT--

Update, Saturday, March 19, 4 p.m.

From the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center:

"Although the parade has been cancelled, the fun continues. We just confirmed that Chicks n Sync will still perform from 1 - 4 p.m. Food WILL be available tomorrow (Sunday).Corned beef sandwiches: $8, Hot dogs: $2, Great beer: priceless!"

The luck o' the Irish was not on Danbury's Irish this year and the've canceled Sunday's parade.

Parade organizers sent out a message on Saturday notifying residents that "upon the direction of the City of Danbury, Sunday's St. Patrick's Day Parade has been canceled." The cancellation is due to the snow forecasted for our area.

Because of the cancellation, the Irish Club won't be serving food Sunday, however the bar will still be open on Sunday.

The Mighty Ploughboys, a local Irish rock band, are performing Saturday evening at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Ave., Danbury. The kitchen and bar will be open.

Paul Grasseler, Sr., formerly of Danbury, was recently named Hibernian of the Year. Bethel resident Meghan O'Connor was named Lady Hibernian of the Year. Together they were to lead the parade as co-marshals.
