Supporting Opening a Charter School in Danbury

Danbury families are looking forward to an additional high-quality educational option.

While more than 3 million American students are currently being educated at charter schools across the country, Danbury remains without a single one of them. This is unfortunate, as opening a charter school in the city would offer the residents of Danbury an option of educating their children in an environment that uses innovative and creative educational methods. I have a very positive personal experience with the charter school model-based education. My son attended Southwest Baltimore Charter School which set him on the path to academic success. He is now an honors student at a prestigious research university and still maintains the close friendships that he developed during his years at the charter school. I believe that the residents of Danbury deserve the same opportunity that millions of Americans have throughout the country. Therefore, I wholeheartedly support the idea of opening a charter school in Danbury that as I understand is being considered.
