DANBURY, CT — When Danbury Board of Education member Loren Daly heard that some Danbury Public Schools students may go without meals during the school break from April 16-20, she knew she had to think fast how to help.

As the local store marketer for Texas Roadhouse in Danbury, she approached the restaurant’s managing partner Matt Rusinko before reaching out to Superintendent Sal Pascarella with an offer to serve approximately 5,000 free children's meals during the week off from school.

"We usually do a free kid's meal at local Easter egg hunts, and we won't have a chance to do that this year. We are always doing fundraisers and thinking of ways we can help in the
community," said Daly. “This is new and exciting for children who can't afford to come here
once a day."

The free meals are available to all Danbury school children from April 13-17, although Daly said
children who show up a day late won’t be turned down.

The menu includes macaroni and cheese, mini cheeseburger, chicken tenders and steak bites with
a choice of fries, mashed potatoes, broccoli, rice or green beans.

"We are so grateful for the Texas Roadhouse’s willingness to come forward and fulfill this great
need we have right now," said Pascarella. "This is just another wonderful of how important it is
to have community members who are truly invested in supporting those in need."

The Texas Roadhouse is at 74 Newtown Road in Danbury.
