Troopers Nab Man Speeding Through Danbury with Stolen Gun
State cops pulled the man over on I-84 and found more than they expected.
DANBURY, CT — State Police charged a New Rochelle man with possession of a stolen gun in the City on Friday.
Around 20 minutes before midnight, a trooper in an unmarked car was passed at high speed by a car whose driver was on the phone, along Interstate 84 near Exit 6. The trooper then clocked the car's speed at 75 mph in the 55 mph zone, according to the police report.
The trooper pulled over Leon R. Spady, 30, of Grove Avenue in New Rochelle, NY, and "detected an odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle," according to the report.

During the interview that followed, the driver told the trooper there was a firearm in his vehicle. Upon further investigation, the State Police determined that the 9mm handgun had been stolen out of Atlanta, GA, police said.
Troopers charged Spady's passenger with possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana.

Spady was taken into custody and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, stealing a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm. Bond was set at $5,000.
