Union Savings Bank Foundation awards $203,308 to 45 local non-profit organizations in Western Connecticut

[Danbury, Conn., December 3, 2013]— Consistent with Union Savings Bank’s mission of providing support to local community organizations that provide health care, address basic human needs and promote educational achievement, the USB Foundation recently distributed $203,308 to 45 not-for-profit agencies whose services cover western Connecticut.

The USB Foundation’s 2013-2014 grants will support services and programs that include individual and family health, economic and personal stability, youth development and education, meals to the needy, shelter and housing assistance, art and nature education, and a number of services to help those with mental and physical disabilities.

In 1999, the USB Foundation made its first six grant awards totaling just $33,000.  Since then, we have expanded our geographic reach, scope and mission and have awarded nearly $2 million in total grants.

“I am so proud of how our USB Foundation has grown since its inception, and that we are able to continue our commitment of assisting those most in need,” said Fran Dattalo, Union Savings Bank President and CEO.  “It is a pleasure to meet with the grant recipients and learn more about their projects and the impact they have on the communities we serve.”

The USB Foundation accepts grant applications between June 1 and August 31 of each year, for grants that are awarded at an annual reception in November.  More information about the USB Foundation grants process can be found by visiting the Giving Back page on unionsavings.com.
