"Venom" Sentenced in Danbury Home Invasion Case

The man was sentenced for his part in home invasions where armed men would steal from marijuana dealers.

Scott Myrie, aka “Venom,” 27, of Bedford Hills, N.Y. was sentenced to seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to robbery charges related to two 2013 Danbury home invasions.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Myrie participated in two home invasion robberies on Jan. 30 and Feb. 18, 2013, said Tom Carson, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Connecticut office.

A third home invasion occurred that Myrie wasn’t involved in, Carson said. Armed men wearing masks would force entry into the residences of known marijuana dealers in order to steal marijuana and cash. In all three home invasions a person was pistol whipped and other residents were threatened with death.

Myrie was armed with a .32 caliber handgun during both robberies he participated in, Carson said. In one invasion he pistol whipped a victim several times before dropping the gun in a struggle. Investigators located the gun and found it was fully loaded.

Danbury Police caught onto the robberies while investigating a narcotics trafficking network in the area that had several trap houses for packaging and preparing drugs, Carson said.
