Veterans Walkway of Honor in Danbury Finds New Sponsor
The Veterans Walkway of Honor is now being sponsored by the Raymond A Walling VFW Post 149.
The Veterans Walkway of Honor is now being sponsored by the Raymond A. Walling VFW Post 149 located on Byron Street in Danbury. Built in 2012 to commemorate the men and women who have served in the American military, the Veterans Walkway of Honor is an elegant pathway that can be found at the Danbury War Memorial.
The walkway is lined with bricks that display the names, ranks, and service branches of American veterans; photos and short biographies of some of the veterans can be found on the walkway's website.
Since it's inception, over $67,900 has been raised with $51,000 going to the Danbury War Memorial and $16,900 going to other charitable veteran related non-profits.

Project Organizer Lee Teicholz stated, "The VFW Post 149 has already done so much for our veterans and the community and the funds raised from the brick sales will further help promote their cause."
David Vieira, who is the post Senior Vice Commander stated, "This new sponsorship will help the post further it's legacy of providing assistance and recreation to veterans and their families well into the future."

The Raymond A. Walling VFW Post 149 is the oldest VFW Post in Connecticut and one of the oldest in the United States. The post is named after Raymond A. Walling who was a member of Battery E., 56th Coast Artillery Regiment. He was killed fighting in France on August 31, 1918.
