Western Rehabilitation Care Center Fined After Patient Was Burned

Western Rehabilitation Care Center was one of five nursing homes recently fined by the state Department of Public Health.

According to a report, Western Rehabilitation Care Center in Danbury was fined $1,020 on July 9 after a resident was burned on the abdomen and hand after hot coffee spilled out of a travel mug. The citation state that the home could not document if a safety evaluation had been done to allow the resident’s use of the mug.

Administrator Grace Flight told the Connecticut Health Team that the incident was an isolated event and that the home is in full compliance with DPH.
