Woman's Club of Danbury/N.Fairfield Celebrates Local H.S. Art Students
Local high school student artists celebrated at the Brookfield Craft Center by members of WCDNF

The Woman's Club of Danbury/N.Fairfield has recognized area high school art students for the past nine years. Marlene Patren, a WCDNF member, initiated a program titled "Hooray for the Arts" which works in conjunction with the Brookfield Craft Center.
The Craft Center sponsors an exhibit each year titled, "Artists on the Rise" which showcases the artwork of students in grades 9-12 from the greater Danbury area and surrounding towns. The photography, ceramics, drawings and weaving of 130 local students are on display in the Lynn Tendler Bignell Gallery of the Brookfield Craft Center through March 30th. This art show is a juried event which awards the creativity and talent of the works of high school students on display.
Members of the Woman's Club of Danbury/N.Fairfield visited the Brookfield Craft Center on March 11th. Each attendee voted for their favorite piece of artwork. With all the student talent on display, it was a difficult task due to the depth and talent of the artwork. Cash prizes were awarded to the first, second and third place winners. Both the jurors and the members of the WCDNF chose the entry titled "Drawn to Play" for first place. The WCDNF is very pleased to have established its "Hooray for the Arts" program and looks forward to its continued support of our local high school art students. Congratulations to all students who participated!
