Woman's Club Danbury/New Fairfield Supports Veterans and our Community

The Woman's Club of Danbury/New Fairfield (WCDNF) honors our Veterans and supports our neighbors.

At their November General Meeting, the Woman's Club of Danbury/New Fairfield recognized the contributions of women in the U.S. military. Veteran and Army ROTC cadet guests were honored for their service. A retired U.S. Navy officer shared with the club her unique experiences as a woman in the military. Assigned to an intelligence unit in Afghanistan and fluent in their native language, she spoke to Afghanistan women and gathered information needed by the U.S. military. Her presentation highlighted the unique and critical role women have in the defense of our country.

At that meeting also, the WCDNF members donated $550 purchasing desserts made by our members. That money will fund one of our Connecticut female veteran's participation in the Connecticut Honor Flight that will take place on May 3, 2025 in Washington D.C. That program honors Veterans of W.W. II, Korea and Vietnam at our U.S. National Memorials.

Members also donated $1,132 in cash and gift cards for the New Hope Baptist Church Thanksgiving Baskets. Needed winter clothing in the value of $5,725 was collected for the Dorothy Day Hospitality House and a check amounting to over $2,000 was sent to the World Central Kitchen Relief Fund. At the January 2025 meeting, members will be asked to contribute once again to support the World Central Kitchen in their support to the first responders and the families who have been impacted by the California wildfires.
