Woman's Club of Danbury/New Fairfield (WCDNF) Poinsettia Sale 2024
2024 Poinsettia Sale Supports Community Non-Profit Organizations
In 1997, two members of the Woman's Club of Danbury/New Fairfield suggested selling poinsettias to the local Danbury community to raise money for their philanthropic efforts. That first year, they raised $10,000 in profits. Since that beginning, selling poinsettias has become the WCDNF major fundraiser.
This year, on December 3, over 100 club members gathered at the Police Athletic League Building in Danbury. Members of the Danbury Men's Club joined them to volunteer to unload approximately 2,600 plants from the delivery trucks, organize them by size, color and type to be made ready to fill hundreds of orders. Members of the Danbury Woman's Club filled the orders and made them ready for delivery. The Men's Club delivered the plants to businesses in the local area. Other plants were sold to club member's family and friends.
A profit of over $21,000 was earned. The money will be distributed in the Spring 2025 as grants to area non-profit agencies and as scholarships to seniors at Danbury H.S., Immaculate H.S., Henry Abbott Technical High School, New Fairfield H.S. and A.C.E. (The Alternative High School). In the 27 years that the poinsettia sale has been taking place, the Woman;s Club of Danbury/New Fairfield has donated close to $1,000,000 to area charities and high school students. In continuing this tradition, the WCDNF supports its community and exemplifies its motto of "Caring, Sharing and Giving".
