At the yearly April WCDNF General Meeting, the "Between the Covers" book club sponsors a book sale that provides all the club members the opportunity to purchase gently used books at very reduced prices.

This year, the club decided to present a $300 check earned from the book sale to the New Fairfield Elementary School to purchase books chosen for the newly launched bilingual program. This new program will provide instruction to students in both English and Spanish. This type of instruction will develop language development, strengthen cognitive ability and help students become improved communicators and readers.

The school is also working towards expanding its catalog of Spanish versions of the texts used in the classrooms. Providing curriculum texts in Spanish is important because it ensures that students can fully access grade-level learning, make meaningful connections across both languages and see their language and culture valued in their community.
