Yoga Culture Studio News - Closing Notice

They will not return to in-person classes at 105 Mill Plain Road.

Hey Yogis,

I haven’t written in some time; and I’ve missed writing about yoga philosophy and its relationship to everyday life. Like most small business owners, I’ve been distracted. And now I will cut to the chase. At this time, I am unable to keep the studio running in its current iteration. I’ve given up our lease. We will not return to in-person classes at 105 Mill Plain Road.

We were hit hard in the shutdown, a sickness of its own. As you can imagine, we’re unable to afford the usual overhead with our diminished income. Throughout this ordeal, we’ve been able to keep our teachers teaching and our front desk staff doing their magic. If I’m proud of anything, it’s this. I know each staff member has been happy to stay in touch with you each day online. One day we’ll look back on this and remember the people we interacted with during the Pandemic of 2020. You’re the people who will live in our memories. Thank goodness.

If I can interrupt your shock for a moment, I have some logistics to share with you. We will remain online and at the park until August 22nd. Starting Monday July 27th, we will start a reduced schedule. During the week of July 27th, we’ll launch recorded classes, which our current SuperPass members will be given access to. If your SuperPass payment is scheduled on or before August 7th, you will be charged half price for the remaining weeks. If after August 7th, you won’t be charged. All of you will have access to our zoom and recorded classes until August 22nd, even if that date extends beyond your renewal date. For other passes, see below. If your SuperPass was frozen, it will be terminated.

August 22nd is a special date as it turns out to be 10 years, almost to the day, from our very first class on August 24, 2010. We even planned our anniversary events before the pandemic hit. It was one hell of a 10 year run. Lives changed, friendships formed, Danbury did yoga. In our last moment of charity, we raised $3,500 for our local food bank.

If there’s one thing I love about this practice, it’s yoga’s way of presenting you with reality in all its truth, showing you what lives in the crags and crevices, then asking you to surrender to that reality. I’ve pushed my Excel abilities beyond their limits these past months to get every angle at the financials. From underneath piles of numbers I climb to wave the white handkerchief, fold the hand, cut the losses.

And so it is with sadness that I surrender. It is with happiness that I look back on what we became together.

See you,

Jenny & the Yogis of Yoga Culture
