YouTuber Found Guilty of Trespassing At Danbury City Hall

The "First Amendment auditor" was found guilty of simple trespass, but acquitted of creating a public disturbance.

DANBURY, CT — A YouTube "First Amendment auditor" who was arrested after recording video inside Danbury City Hall was found guilty of one of two charges, according to the Danbury Superior Court clerk’s office.

Sean Paul Reyes, 31, who operates the YouTube Channel and website known as Long Island Audit, was found guilty of simple trespass, and ordered to pay a $90 fine. He was acquitted of creating a public disturbance.

The verdicts rendered Monday stem from an incident in July 2021 when Reyes was challenged by a security guard and city employee while he was recording video inside City Hall.

The previous month, Reyes was confronted by Danbury police officers while recording inside the public library. The police convinced Reyes to leave, but the four officers were disciplined by the DPD for their role in the incident.

Reyes is one of a growing number of YouTube personalities who record their visits to municipal buildings in order to "audit" the public's access. They then post the videos online, and garner revenue through monetized views and donations.
