1 Vehicle Stolen, 12 Others Burglarized In Darien, Cops Say

The car-related crimes were reported in town over the course of four days.

DARIEN, CT — A Toyota Prius was reported stolen in Darien on Oct. 28, but it was recovered in Bridgeport a week later in what was one of several car-related crimes reported in town over the course of four days, according to Darien police.

The 2012 Prius was stolen from a driveway on Edgewood Road, and while the car didn't have any valuables inside, it did have a garage door remote and EZ Pass transponder inside. Additionally, the car's key fob had been left in the driver's side door pocket.

Police said the car was recovered by Bridgeport police on Nov. 3 on Pennsylvania Avenue.

In another incident on Oct. 28, a purse and wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway on Walmsley Road, according to police. The owner did not remember if she had locked it, but police did not find any signs of forced entry.

On Oct. 29, several power tools were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Ring's End Lumber on West Avenue.

The owner said he had parked in the lot at about 7 a.m. and was in the facility for about 10 minutes. When he returned, the tools, which were in the backseat, were gone. The tools were valued at about $700.

The following group of motor vehicle burglaries were reported as occurring during the overnight hours from Oct. 30 to early Oct. 31.

"In all instances the vehicle had been unlocked," police officials said in a statement. "In all instances the contents of the glove box and/or center console had been disturbed."

  • Vehicle parked on Old Kings Highway North had an EZ Pass stolen
  • Five vehicles parked on Robinhood Lane were entered; nothing was taken from four of them and spare change was taken from one
  • Two vehicles parked on Highland Avenue were entered but nothing was taken
  • Two vehicles parked on Raymond Street were entered but nothing was taken
