17 CT Companies Make Fortune 500 List For 2018

Four of the companies cracked the Fortune 100.

HARTFORD, CT — A total of 17 Connecticut-based companies were named to the Fortune 500 2018 list. The 64th iteration of the famous list ranks the largest companies by revenue with the top 500 representing two-thirds of the U.S. GDP with $12.8 trillion in revenues.

Walmart remained the top company on the list with more than $500 billion in revenue. Coming in a distant second was Exxon Mobil with more than $244 billion in revenue. Berkshire Hathaway,

Apple and UnitedHealth Group rounded out the top 5.

Amazon managed to climb to 8th place after previously placing 12th on the list.

Aetna was the top Connecticut-based company to make the list at 43rd place. The company was acquired in a $69 billion deal by CVS, according to Fortune.

Former Connecticut leader General Electric slipped from 13th place to 18th place on the 500 list. The company relocated its headquarters to Massachusetts. Its revenues have slipped 3.5 percent and its profits are down 165.5 percent, according to Forbes.
