2 Unlocked Cars Reported Stolen In Darien: Police

Both thefts were reported early Monday, March 12.

DARIEN, CT — Two unlocked cars were reported stolen from the driveways they were parked in sometime late Sunday or early Monday morning, according to Darien police.

The first, a gray 2015 Audi A4 sedan was taken from home on Sunnyside Avenue. The owner discovered it was missing at about 6:45 a.m. on Monday, and he remembered last seeing it at about 10 p.m. Sunday night. In addition to being left unlocked, the keys also had been left inside.

"During a canvass, two residents reported hearing someone getting into a vehicle and tires screeching at approximately [2:30 a.m.]," wrote police in a statement. "Investigation to continue."

In the second theft, a gray 2015 Nissan Altima was reported stolen from a home on Denehurst Place. The owner discovered the car was missing at about 7:30 a.m. on Monday, and the last time she remembers seeing it in the driveway was at about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

A second unlocked Nissan in the same driveway was burglarized but not stolen. Again, the investigation is continuing.
