3 Darien Police Officers Receive Promotions

A formal promotional ceremony will be held on a date to be announced.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department announced this week the promotion of three officers.

  • Lt. Andrew Mastroianni was promoted to the rank of captain. Mastroianni has been with the department for 19 years and currently serves in the training division.
  • Sgt. Daniel Skoumbros was elevated to the rank of lieutenant. Skoumbros has worked in Darien for 20 years and currently serves in the detective division.
  • Officer James Martin,who has been with the DPD for 20 years, was promoted to sergeant. Martin currently serves in the field services division.

The promotions are effective May 5.

"These promotions reflect the hard work, dedication and the level of commitment these three officers have to the Darien Police Department," said Darien Police Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr., in a news release.

"I would like to commend Captain Mastroianni, Lieutenant Skoumbros, and Sergeant Martin as they advance their careers within our agency and wish them the best of luck in their new roles. These promotions signify not only personal achievement but also the Police Commission’s and the department's confidence in their leadership abilities," Marron added. "I would also like to congratulate all of the candidates in these promotional processes as they clearly put in a lot of time and hard work and are sure to continue to have promising careers within our agency. You all should be proud of your efforts and I thank you for that."

A formal promotional ceremony for the three officers, which will also include recently promoted Sgt. Bryan Wallman, will be held on a date to be announced.
