4th Of July Holiday Crime And Accident Stats Released By Connecticut State Police
The holiday enforcement period began on Friday and ends at midnight. State Police have been extremely busy during this period.

During the 4th of July holiday period, Connecticut State Police have issued nearly 2,500 citations on the roadways and responded to more than 350 accidents.
In 2016 there were two accidents that resulted in three fatalities and this year while there have been 367 accidents yielding 47 injuries, there have been no fatalities thus far. The number of DUI-related offenses has already increased from 2016.
Connecticut State Troopers are patrolling highways and roads in Connecticut over this 2017 Independence Day weekend. During this enforcement period Troopers are utilizing both traditional and non-traditional patrol cars. Troopers are focusing on drunken driving violations, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers and speeding. Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols are also in place over the entire weekend.
