Darien Historical Society

The Museum of Darien invites you to journey back to the Revolutionary War era at its Annual Spring Fundraiser, War Comes to Middlesex: Rebels and Redcoats, on Saturday, May 16, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. This lively and immersive event promises an unforgettable evening filled with history, community, and celebration.
Guests will be transported to the 18th century as the Museum transforms into a bustling hub of Revolutionary War activity. The evening will feature live music, delectable tavern bites courtesy of Carolyn Eddie’s Absolutely Fabulous Events, and libations provided by Captain Zig and Town Cellar. The festive Colonial Tavern atmosphere will set the stage for a night of fun and historical intrigue.
From colonial-inspired games to a Silent Auction and themed entertainment, attendees can indulge in a wide range of activities that bring the tensions and excitement of the Revolutionary era to life. Whether you pledge loyalty to the Patriots or the Crown, this fundraiser offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and spirit of 18th-century life.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity to experience history in a fun, immersive way while supporting the Museum’s mission,” says Amy Allen, Executive Director of the Museum of Darien. “We’re excited to welcome the community for a night that blends education, entertainment, and philanthropy within our new Revolutionary exhibit, War Comes to Middlesex.”
All proceeds from the evening will directly benefit the Museum of Darien’s educational programs, exhibitions, and preservation efforts, ensuring that the stories of Darien’s past continue to inspire future generations.

The Nyack Famous Street Fair will be returning on Sunday, May 17 from 10 to 5 in downtown Nyack. This is the ultimate shopping and dining event you do not want to miss. The fair features over three hundred exhibitors, from four states with arts, crafts, new retail, home décor, and unique gifts set up in tents lining Main, Broadway and Cedar Streets. For the foodie’s festival foods of all kinds will be available including food trucks. Music will be located at the Gazebo on Main Street. Be sure to stop by the great restaurants and outdoor cafes with many offering fair specials. Nyack’s unique shops and boutiques are a must see. 
The fair is held rain or shine. No pets please. The Nyack Famous Street Fair has been held for over 50 years and has become a much-anticipated event that is looked forward to year after year.
