Air Quality Problems In Darien Thursday: State

DARIEN, CT — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has issued an advisory that Darien's air quality on Thursday, May 18, will be "unhealthy for sensitive groups."

"Active children and adults, and people with lung disease, such as asthma, should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors," wrote CT DEEP in a statement.

According to officials, during warm months, unhealthy levels of ground ozone concentrations "may cause a variety of respiratory problems including breathing difficulty, coughing, and throat irritation."

Thursday is expected to be a scorcher in Connecticut, according to Meteorologist Brad Field NBC Connecticut, "Who's ready for a preview of coming attractions? A little taste of summer we probably break the record Thursday! The record is 90 F set in 1936…"

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 67.

Saturday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 50.

Sunday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 66.

Sunday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Monday - Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
