Kent Ransom Costikyan III, 66, passed away peacefully on April 14 at Autumn Lake in Norwalk, Connecticut, after a long health battle.

He grew up in Darien and New Canaan, CT graduating from New Canaan High School in 1978 and American University in 1985.

Kent had a deep passion for music that took root during his high school years. Alongside close friends, he worked as a sound tech for the Allman Brothers–inspired band “Exit 10” in Darien.

A Phi Sigma Kappa at American University, Randy interned for Senator Claybourne Pell of Rhode Island before a life changing head injury interrupted his path. After years of rehabilitation, he returned to American University for two more years to complete his studies. During that time, he interned in the scheduling office of Vice President George H. W. Bush and ultimately earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations.

In the years that followed, Kent lived in Stamford and Norwalk, Connecticut. He dedicated much of his time to volunteering as a guide at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors of all ages.

Kent will be remembered for his ever-present sense of humor, gentle nature, warmth, and kindness. Despite the many challenges he faced throughout his life, Randy met them with remarkable bravery, resilience, and grace.

He is survived by his two brothers, Timothy (Donna) Windsor Costikyan of Hampstead, North Carolina, and Warren (Deirdre) Kingsbury Costikyan of Norwalk, Connecticut; as well as his nieces and nephews, Lindsay, Cooper, Maggie, Carly, and Ryan.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Darien, Connecticut.
