DARIEN, CT — A woman working as a part-time home care aide is accused of using a victim's credit card and making unauthorized purchases, according to Darien police.
Annakay Barrett, 30, of Bridgeport, surrendered to police on April 14 on a warrant that charged her with illegal taking of a payment card; putting less than $500 on a revoked payment card; second-degree identity theft; and third-degree larceny, according to her arrest report.
On Jan. 30, police took a report of a series of unauthorized credit card transactions belonging to an elderly victim, police said.
"The investigation determined that Annakay Barrett, while working as a part-time home care aide, obtained the victim’s card information, loaded it into a mobile wallet, and completed numerous fraudulent purchases, including electronic items picked up at a Trumbull retailer, food deliveries, and multiple rideshare trips," police said in her arrest report.
Barrett was released after posting a $75,000 court-set bond. She is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 5.
