The governor's office said the increased funding CT municipalities is intended to help towns and school districts close budget gaps without raising property taxes. The funding is aimed at supporting local school operations and municipal services while easing pressure on town finances.

"By closing funding gaps for our schools and municipalities, we can help communities avoid raising property taxes while keeping classrooms running and local services strong," Lamont said in a statement.

Lamont said affordability remains a priority for his administration and thanked legislative leaders and lawmakers from both parties who supported the legislation.

The budget adjustment package was developed collaboratively between the Lamont administration and legislative leaders. The bill received bipartisan approval in both chambers of the General Assembly and is expected to be signed into law.
