DARIEN, CT — Yale New Haven Health this week marked the opening of a new urgent care center in Darien and the expansion of access to non-emergency medical services in the region.
The new facility is located at 25 Old Kings Highway. The 3,500-square-foot center includes seven exam rooms, an on-site laboratory offering same-day testing, and a staff of six clinical and support employees.
Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care operates more than 20 locations across Connecticut and New York.
"As health care continues to evolve, access and convenience are more important than ever," said YNHH CEO Christopher O’Connor in a news release. "By opening this urgent care center in Darien, we’re giving patients a trusted option for prompt medical care close to home, while reinforcing our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve."
The urgent care centers treat conditions including minor injuries, pediatric illnesses and injuries, respiratory infections, influenza and other non-life-threatening medical issues. Services also include school, camp, and sports physicals, as well as X-rays for fractures and care for pneumonia and dislocations.
"This new location strengthens our ability to deliver timely care while maintaining strong connections across the Yale New Haven Health system," added YNHH President of Urgent Care Jeannie Kenkare. "Patients come to us for immediate needs, but they also benefit from seamless coordination with primary care providers, specialists and telehealth services when follow-up care is needed."
The health system said its urgent care network also offers locally staffed telehealth services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Darien center is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends and holidays.
On Christmas Day, the center will operate from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., while telehealth services will remain available around the clock.
Patients may walk in, schedule appointments online or book virtual telehealth visits. Most major insurance plans are accepted, and self-pay options are available for uninsured patients.
