Man Charged In 2022 Darien Burglaries: Police

Police said they used surveillance footage from local businesses and the train station, as well as cell phone data, in the investigation.

DARIEN, CT — A New York City man was arrested earlier this month and charged in connection with burglaries that occurred at two Darien businesses over four years ago, according to police.

Abner Morisset, 46, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested on May 19 and charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny in two separate incidents.

On March 19, 2022, Darien police responded to a report of an overnight commercial burglary at Check Body Mind, a health spa that was located at 883 Boston Post Road.

Responding officers confirmed a laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen from the business, police said in an arrest report.

"Following an extensive investigation—which utilized surveillance footage from local businesses and the transit station, cell phone data analytics, and assistance from the Fairfield Police Department detectives positively identified the suspect as Abner Morisset," police said.

The investigation found that Morisset was a suspect in an additional commercial burglary in Darien, as well as another burglary in Rye, N.Y., police said.

On March 25, 2022, Darien police responded again to another report of a commercial burglary, this time at Private Wealth Systems on the Post Road, police said.

A laptop was stolen from the business, police said, noting Morisset was identified as the suspect.

On May 19, following his waiver of extradition and release from a New York correctional facility, Darien detectives took custody of Morisset, and he was brought back to Darien, where he was charged.

Morisset was unable to post court-set bonds of $100,000, according to police.

He was also subsequently re-arrested and charged with first-degree failure to appear. Darien police said those charges stem from failing to appear in Stamford Superior Court on burglary charges from Greenwich in 2021.

Morisset is scheduled to appear in court on June 9.
