National Salon Franchise Seeks Approval For 34-Suite Darien Location

A public hearing is scheduled for the upcoming Darien Planning & Zoning Commission meeting.

DARIEN, CT — A nationwide salon franchise is seeking a special permit to open a 34-suite location in Darien, according to documents submitted to the town's Planning & Zoning Commission.

The proposal is slated for a public hearing on June 9, beginning at 7 p.m. from Room 206 at Darien Town Hall.

Image Studios is proposing to move into a 6,564-square-foot space on the second floor of 800 Boston Post Road, a three-story office building

According to submitted documents from Rucci Law Group LLC, who is representing the applicant, Image Studios has approximately 125 locations nationwide.

Each location has beauty studio suites that are individually rented by salon professionals to provide services for manicures, pedicures, makeup, facials, haircare, waxing, eyebrows, skincare, laser hair removal, massages, and other beauty offerings.

The majority of clients would come during regular business hours and on Saturdays, but individual beauty professionals would be able to set their own hours and could offer services later in the evening, according to submitted documents. Based on usage at other facilities, the space is not expected to operate at full capacity.

The building features 98 parking spaces with off-site parking available at the nearby Mechanic Street lot, to go with street parking on Mechanic and the Post Road. The proposed use requires 33 parking spaces.

"Due to the different hours of peak use for the building tenants as well as the available off site parking we believe that there is sufficient parking available for the proposed Personal Service Use," Rucci Law Group wrote in the project narrative.

The building's first-floor tenants include Burgers Shakes and Fries and The Bar Method.

Medical and professional offices have made up the balance of the building, and in 2025, a personal service use was approved for the second floor space, but a tenant did not take occupancy.

No changes to the exterior of the building are proposed, other than signage.

This proposal will not have a negative impact on public health, safety or welfare in the area and will bring a new type of business to the town without adding additional personal services on the first floor in the Central Business District," Rucci Law Group added.
