DARIEN, CT — Darien police are investigating a burglary they say occurred recently at Great Island, the 60-plus-acre waterfront property the town acquired in 2023.
On June 14 at approximately 11:38 a.m., police responded to Great Island where it was reported that two separate structures were entered, property was found disturbed, and several items were reported missing.
Officers conducted a walkthrough of the property. Police did not specify which items were taken or which buildings were entered.
Great Island contains a collection of early 20th-century estate buildings, including the main estate house, a granite stable complex, indoor and outdoor riding rings, a carriage house, greenhouse, farmhouse, stone house, seaside bungalow, beach cottage and several woodland cottages.
