DARIEN, CT — A former employee of a Darien country club was arrested last week after police said he returned to the property shortly after being fired in May, threatened management and damaged property.
Edwin Constanza, 25, of Stamford, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, making physical threats, third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief.
On May 7, Darien police responded to the Woodway Country Club in Darien following reports of a former employee who engaged in threatening behavior and property damage following his termination, police said in an arrest report.
An investigation found that on the previous day at approximately 7:30 p.m., an employee identified as Constanza was fired, at which time he "became irate and verbally threatened" a member of management, police said, noting Constanza was told not to return to the property.
Later that evening at approximately 9 p.m., police said, Constanza returned to the country club wearing all black with a face covering and gloves, entered through an unlocked door, made "severe physical threats" against management to a staff member while referencing a knife in his bag.
Police said Constanza subsequently caused property damage to the women's locker room before fleeing on foot.
An arrest warrant was applied for and signed by Stamford Superior Court.
Norwalk police arrested Constanza on July 22 and transferred him to Darien, where he was charged and given a court-set bond of $100,000.
The CT Judicial Branch website shows Constanza was released from custody on a $50,000 professional surety bond.
Constanza is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 10.
