James Michael McKenna, 81, died Aug. 2, 2026, and was a U.S. Naval Reserve veteran and CPA who spent four decades with CBS, including leadership roles at CBS Sports and CBS News, served on the boards of the International Radio and Television Society, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and First Tee of Connecticut, and enjoyed golf and mentoring students interested in broadcasting.
Richard Byard "By" Hires, 84, died July 23, 2026, and was a U.S. Navy veteran who worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Co. before serving as a corporate vice president at Marsh & McLennan Companies, later volunteering on the Executive Compensation Committee at Jupiter Medical Center, and enjoyed golfing in Connecticut and Florida.
John Robert McKittrick, 79, died July 19, 2026, and worked in publishing for The Chicago Tribune, Sunset Magazine and Reader's Digest, served on the boards of the Darien YMCA, Wee Burn Country Club, the Tokeneke Club, Darien Youth Hockey and Darien Soccer Club, coached youth sports, and enjoyed golf, skiing, biking, kayaking, tennis, paddle tennis and following the Chicago Cubs.
Joan "Carole" Sandor, 83, died July 17, 2026, and was remembered for the importance she placed on her family and the many friendships she formed throughout her life.
Douglas Munro Stevenson, 65, died July 5, 2026, and worked in the municipal bond industry after earlier entrepreneurial ventures, was a former Colgate University quarterback and golfer who coached youth sports, remained active in his church men's group, and enjoyed golf, gardening, cigars and time with his family at Southport Beach.
