DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department will hold its free seven-week Citizens Police Academy beginning in September.
The course will take place every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Sept. 9 through Oct. 21, 2026, at the Darien Police Department, 25 Hecker Ave.
The academy will cover several aspects of police work, including criminal investigations, accident investigations, traffic stops and DUIs, use of force and the Emergency Response Team.
Participants will also learn about the department's Marine Unit, K9 Unit and school resource officers, and take part in a building tour.
Participants must be at least 21 years old and either a Darien resident or business owner.
