Woman Accused Of Biting And Spitting At Officer After Evading Accident In Darien: Police

DARIEN, CT — A 32-year-old woman was arrested last week after police said she evaded a motor vehicle crash in Darien and later assaulted an officer during detention and processing.

Sandou Neus, of Orange Park, Fla., was charged with evading responsibility involving property damage; illegal operation of a motor vehicle/violation of license classification; second-degree breach of peace; second-degree criminal mischief; refusal to be fingerprinted; and four counts of assault of public safety personnel.

On Aug. 12 at approximately 8:25 a.m., Darien police responded to a report of an evading motor vehicle accident and property damage in the Post Road area, police said in an arrest report.

"The complainant reported that an unknown female drove a Kia into an automatic gate multiple times and fled the scene," police said. "Officers located and stopped the vehicle shortly afterward, and the operator, identified as Sandou Neus, allegedly refused to identify herself."

Police said Neus "became physically resistant during detention and processing, resulting in multiple reported assaults involving spitting and a reported bite to an officer."

Neus was taken to a local hospital for evaluation before an arrest warrant was sought, police noted.

On Aug. 27, Darien police took Neus into custody on an arrest warrant after being notified she was detained by Windsor police.

Neus was released after posting a court-set bond of $100,000. She's scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16.
