Overnight Car Break-Ins Under Investigation In Darien

DARIEN, CT — Darien police said this week they are investigating multiple reports from Aug. 24 of overnight car break-ins.

The break-ins occurred in the Hazel Street, West Avenue and Briar Brae Road area, according to police, who said the victims reported their unlocked vehicles were entered and rummaged through, although no items were taken.

"In two incidents, residents provided brief CCTV footage showing a suspect in dark clothing and a white SUV idling nearby with an open rear door," police said. "Anyone with information or home surveillance video is asked to contact the Darien Police Department."

Residents are being reminded to lock their vehicles, remove valuables, and avoid leaving wallets, purses, keys, or key fobs inside unattended vehicles.
