DARIEN, CT — Mariner Gallery will host the opening of the 2026 Darien Plein Air Invitational exhibition from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at 170 Noroton Ave.
Throughout the week, Mariner Gallery artists will paint outdoors in Darien, following in the footsteps of John Frederick Kensett and Vincent Colyer. The artists will capture the town's coastal landscapes, historic character and natural beauty.
The exhibition will feature more than 35 local scenes.
"There is something visceral about seeing a place you know well depicted in an oil painting. In bringing these fine artists to Darien, we will capture its coastline, architecture, and landscapes. Come see our community depicted through the eyes of living masters and have a beer with them," gallery owner Andre Arguimbau said in a news release.
For more information, visit the gallery's event page or contact Mariner Gallery directly.
Mariner Gallery has locations in Darien and Newport, RI, and showcases classical realism and coastal-inspired fine art.
