DARIEN, CT — The Darien Board of Selectmen is scheduled Monday to continue discussing how Great Island may be used, including who could hold events, when permits would be required and how parking, noise and safety would be managed.
The board will meet in person at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in Room 206 at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road. The meeting will be broadcast by DarienTV and available for replay.
According to the meeting packet, the discussion is intended to help shape a future Great Island usage policy. No vote or final action on the policy is listed on the agenda.
The parking design for Great Island is expected to be submitted to the Planning and Zoning Commission within the next two months. The planned use of the property will help the commission evaluate the design and proposed number of parking spaces, as well as whether zoning changes may be needed.
The current draft proposal covers topics such as event eligibility, permit requirements, attendance limits, weddings, reservable locations, hours, parking, noise restrictions, fees, deposits, alcohol rules, insurance, liability and the application and appeals process.
