DARIEN, CT — Darien's Planning and Zoning Commission begins deliberating on the 2026-2036 Plan of Conservation and Development, takes up a court-ordered review of Stadium Field lighting and public address use at Darien High School and continues a hearing on St. Luke's playground.

1. P&Z Deliberates On 10-Year Town Plan
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m.
Where: Mather Center Café Extension, Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road
What to know: The Planning and Zoning Commission will deliberate on the 2026-2036 Plan of Conservation and Development, the town's 10-year planning guide; the public hearing closed Oct. 6, according to the agenda. The commission will also interview a candidate to fill a vacancy.

2. Stadium Field Lights, PA Back Before P&Z
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m.
Where: Mather Center Café Extension, Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road
What to know: The commission will deliberate and may decide on a court remand involving the Board of Education's request to expand use of the lights and public address system at Stadium Field at Darien High School, according to the agenda. A December 2025 court order sent the matter back for the commission to consider the town's sound and noise regulations and appropriate conditions. The original request would expand the hours and days the facilities can be used and allow community-wide events, including by groups not affiliated with the town or schools.

3. Hearing On St. Luke's Playground Move
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, no earlier than 8 p.m.
Where: Mather Center Café Extension, Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road
What to know: The commission continues its public hearing on St. Luke's Episcopal Church's proposal to move the parish school playground to the front yard of the education building at 1864 Boston Post Road, according to the agenda. The commission will also review RRE Holdings LLC's plan for a 20-by-50-foot in-ground pool, regrading and a sewer connection at 244 Long Neck Point Road.

4. Sidewalk Committee Ranks Locations
When: Thursday, Oct. 15, 9:30 a.m. (broadcast on DarienTV)
Where: Room 206, Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road
What to know: The Advisory Sidewalk Committee will discuss its scoring of possible sidewalk locations, tier the locations and work on a draft update to the Board of Selectmen, according to the agenda. Written comments can go to Chairman Mark Cohen at mcohen@darienct.gov before the meeting.

5. RTM Parks Committee Reviews Town Plan, Charter Items
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Room 119, Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road
What to know: The RTM Parks and Recreation Committee will discuss the draft town plan as it relates to parks, "Advance Now" items for town code and charter revision, and updates from the Pear Tree Beach Building Committee and Great Island, according to the agenda. The full RTM meets next on Oct. 26.
